Handloom Textile Department

The main aim of Handloom Textile Department is to bring individual weavers under the co-operative fold. To improve the standard of living and upgrade their skill. To encourage production of qualitative products and to implement weaver’s welfare schemes. In Chikmagalur District about 160 families are engaged in handloom and power-loom activity about 150 handloom and 2 power looms are functioning in Chikmagalur District.

In Chikmagalur district the office is presently situated in District Industries Centre office building.Programs of the department are Implemented through state sector and district sector programs.The Assistant  Director of Handloom and Textile is the District levelofficer for implementing various schemes of department for benefit of weavers.
